![]() ![]() These might be the best series of audiobooks I’ve had the pleasure of listening too, and come highly recommended. ![]() And works well.Įditor’s Note: The narrator (James Marsters) does every book in the series and is absolutely phenomenal. ![]() I’m certain reading it would be a completely different experience, but from the audiobook side: it works. Because of this, I didn’t notice the prose as much, instead focusing more on the story itself. The audio recording I listened to had one of the best readers I’ve experienced, who both knew how to emote expression in the dialogue, as well as do clever voice cues so you could tell characters apart. I listened to the audiobook, because I wasn’t able to find a paper copy anywhere. ![]() One main comment though before going into full-on “review mode:” I didn’t actually read this book. This is one of the funnest, cleverest, and downright most reckless books I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing. After a debut that worked in concept but not on paper, a second novel that improved on the formula but didn’t quite nail it, Grave Peril is what we’ve been waiting for. Those looking to start the series can’t do any better than Grave Peril.Īt long last, we finally see Jim Butcher at his best. Combining white-hot action with clever magic and genuinely interesting characters, Grave Peril is the best book thus far in the Dresden Files. In Grave Peril, Jim’s realization of both the world and Harry Dresden’s character comes to life with incredible finesse. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Since these are both side stories, the manga ends up being a bit lackadaisical, as there’s nothing here that presents events in your name. Taki-Mitsuha is heavily featured as Tesshi watches over his female friend who probably wants to leave town even more than he does. ![]() Tesshi’s chapters shows how he is accepting the role of a construction company heir yet also having the desire to get away from the old-fashioned town of Itomori. He faces the challenge of dealing with a female body (and failing to resist the temptation of Mitsuha’s chest) and the seeming disconnect between the girl who leaves him lengthy, bossy messages and the girl who doesn’t confront the people spreading rumors about her. Taki’s story is both comedic and serious, showing more of his time as Mitsuha. Both move at a rather quick pace since they are made up of a series of scenes that are weaved together to form a narrative. However, the actual number of pages is closer than this split might suggest, with the construction heir’s actually only about 20 pages more. The volume has six chapters, two for Taki and four for Tesshi. ![]() Otherwise, readers can read the rest of this volume with little-to-no fear of having the movie ruined.
